The correct answer is Scotland.

Golf dates back to the time of Julius Cesar, the game consisted then of striking a ball full of feathers with a tree branch. It can also be traced back to the Song Dynasty in China.

The modern game of golf originated in Scotland in the year 1457. The first written record of golf was the banning of it by King James II of Scotland, because it distracted the military from training. King James IV lifted the ban in 1502 when he became a golfer himself. In 1764, the standard, 18-hole golf course was created at Saint Andrews.

Golf became a pastime in Great Britain in the 17th century. The first British Open, a tournament played till today, took place in 1860.

The word gold derives from the Scots word goulf meaning to 'strike or to cuff'.

The sport of golf was first developed, established and played in the island nation of Scotland, and afterwards spread to the rest of the world by Scotts. The exact origins of golf are unclear, but the most accepted theory states that its origins date from the 15th century. Despite that, there were not any written rules until 1744, known today as “13 Articles”, drafted by The Gentlemen Golfers of Leith.

People moved from large cities in the East to settle in the Western Territories.--new transportation and territories open up with cheap land drew people west.

Western migration eased the crowding of Northeastern cities and provided a group of people to farm and provide food for the growing industrial centers through the North and Midwest. Railroad transportation allowed for easier travel to the West as well as roads and canals.

What effect did the religion have on the arts during the time of the shoguns
emmainna [20.7K]
Picture in your mind traditional Japanese culture. If you're thinking of tea ceremonies, poetry, or perhaps the courageous samurai, you're thinking of the Edo Period. A great amount of what Japan considers to be its traditional cultural values date to this era, which lasted from 1615 to 1868.

The Edo Period was characterized by relative peace, wealth, and stability, when Japan was basically ruled by a powerful military lord called the shogun. There was still an emperor, but the shogun had the real power and controlled most of the emperor's decisions.

During the Edo Period, the shoguns of Japan belonged to the powerful Tokugawa family, so historians also refer to this time in Japanese history as the Tokugawa shogunate. The Tokugawa Period set many foundations for Japanese culture, including those in religion and art. Under the feudal system, warlords and samurai were also supposed to be intellectuals and poets, making this one interesting era.
