Sargon created the first empire in Mesopotamia that came to be known as the Akkadian empire around 2350 BC. The capital city of Akkadian was Akkad. Sargon was a military leader who attacked Sumerian city-state. It was Sargon who establishes the standing army in his empire. Sargon ruled his empire for 55 years.
