Essay on Literature is the Mirror of Society

Since the dawn of man, the art of storytelling was utilized to pass on critically deemed information about society, life, and everything. During the early days, much of our history was transposed orally through song and spoken word.

Eventually, people started writing things down on scrolls and books. It made accurately passing down the information much more reliable. Finally, literature was born as more people piled onto the written works of humanity. It began taking shape in various form, Poetry, Epics, Novels and much more.

In many instances, literature is merely the reflection of society. It is the individualistic perspective of a series of events depicted by the author. Whether a philosophical point of view or a mere fabrication of the imagination, literature allows us to see humanity through the eyes of another person. It will enable us to objectively look at the ‘bigger picture’ and gain understanding about different perspectives.

Answer:

In my opinion, inThe Rhinocerosthe people living in the town that weretransforming were the Nazis; more and more people were turning to them and“transforming” into Nazis. The only ones that were “immune” to this were the onesthat were not swayed, and they were hunted down and attacked even by theirlovers and family members. On the contrary, in “And Yet the Books” I felt that thebooks represented an unswaying, unstoppable force amongst the carnage anddestruction around them

The author relayed the story behind the photo that is hanging above the fireplace.

In its place of honor, the framed photo is most likely a conversation opener. It can be inferred that the author is telling the story of how he got the perfect shot of the buck.

By his narration, the setting was making it possible for him to quietly take a photo and when buck looked straight at him, he had the best and once in a lifetime opportunity to take a wildlife photo in its perfection.

Washington Irving, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, 1820 The language and themes of the excerpt were most directly inspired by the:
lys-0071 [83]

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, 1820 was inspired by "A real Hessian soldier decapitated by a cannonball at the Battle of White Plains around Halloween in 1776."

Irving wrote a legend while living in England. Some scholars suggest that Irving's story may have been inspired by the folk tales he heard abroad. German, English and Scandinavian folk tales of headless knights chasing unhappy travelers have been told for generations.

The lesson of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is to keep superstitions from shaking you and overwhelming your reason.

The moral of the story is a small town, and the romantic competition between local bullies and school teachers culminates in horrifying night rides. In a small town called Sleepy Hollow, a skinny school teacher named Ichabod Crane comes to town.
