How did the independence movement in Brazil differ from the independence movement in Haiti
defon

The Independence movement in Brazil is different to Haiti in that it was led by Portuguese people living in Brazil who were supporters of the movement.

In Haiti, the movement was supported by the local slaves and colonized people who rose up against French rule after the fall of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Most Latin American movements were indigenous and took decades to become fruitful. Brazil is very different in that, it was a Portuguese colony but the Independence movement against this rule was also carried out by Portuguese people.
