President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal tried to stimulate public spending by investing in infrastructure; During its first years, all kinds of projects were executed, such as hydroelectric plants, roads, schools and, in general, all kinds of public works, significantly modernizing the country.

The measures adopted by the New Deal imported a large participation of the government in the economy, which is just the opposite of what the economic theory of Laissez Faire proposes.

The New Deal did not solve the crisis, which lasted until the United States mobilized its economy with World War II, but it was the first step to its solution.
