1. Download Wabbitemu

2. Go to y =

3. Insert equation under "Y1" ex: y1 = 5x - 8

4. Hit 2nd and then hit graph (or table)

5. Scroll through the columns until y1 and y2 have the same number

6. The number in your "x" column will be your x.

7. Continue on with the rest of the problem.

(Honestly I forgot how to do it by hand but hopefully you will learn how to use a graphing calc. I'd you don't know already!)

4/10x - 2x + 8/5 = 4/5
mamaluj [8]

\large\displaystyle\text{$\begin{gathered}\sf \left(\frac{4}{10}\times x\right)-(2 \times x)+\frac{8}{5}=\frac{4}{5}    \end{gathered}$}

Reduce the fraction 4/10, to its minimum expression, extracting and canceling 2.

  • \large\displaystyle\text{$\begin{gathered}\sf \frac{2}{5}x-2x+\frac{8}{5}=\frac{4}{5}    \end{gathered}$}

Combine \bf{\frac{2}{5}x } and -2x to get \bf{-\frac{8}{5}x}.

  • \large\displaystyle\text{$\begin{gathered}\sf -\frac{8}{5}x+\frac{8}{5}=\frac{4}{5} \     \end{gathered}$}

Subtract 8/5 from both sides.

  • \large\displaystyle\text{$\begin{gathered}\sf -\frac{8}{5}x=\frac{4}{5}-\frac{8}{5} \ \    \end{gathered}$}

Since 4/5 and 5/8 have the same denominator, join their numerators to subtract them.

  • \large\displaystyle\text{$\begin{gathered}\sf -\frac{8}{5}x=\frac{4-8}{5}   \end{gathered}$}

Subtract 8 from 4 to get -4.

  • \large\displaystyle\text{$\begin{gathered}\sf -\frac{8}{5}x=-\frac{4}{5}   \end{gathered}$}

Multiply both sides by \bf{-\frac{5}{8}}, the reciprocal of \bf{-\frac{5}{8}}.

  • \large\displaystyle\text{$\begin{gathered}\sf x=-\frac{4}{5}\left(-\frac{5}{8}\right)   \end{gathered}$}

Multiply -4/5 by -5/8 (to do this, multiply the numerator by the numerator and the denominator by the denominator).

  • \large\displaystyle\text{$\begin{gathered}\sf x=\frac{-4(-5)}{5\times8} \ \to \ \ Multiply  \end{gathered}$}
  • \large\displaystyle\text{$\begin{gathered}\sf x=\frac{20}{40}  \end{gathered}$}

Reduce the fraction 20/40 to its lowest expression by extracting and canceling 20.

  • \boxed{\large\displaystyle\text{$\begin{gathered}\sf x=\frac{1}{2}  \end{gathered}$}}

Gordon types 43 3/4 pages in 3 1/2 hours. What is his rate in pages per hour
Olegator [25]

Answer:

His rate is 12 1/2 pages per hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

Gordon types 43 3/4 pages in 3 1/2 hours or Gordon types 175/4 pages in 7/2 hours./ We need to find its rate in pages per hour. So,

R=\dfrac{\dfrac{175}{4}\ \text{pages}}{\dfrac{7}{2}\ \text{hour}}\\\\R=\dfrac{175}{4}\times \dfrac{2}{7}\\\\R=12.5\ \text{pages per hour}\\\\R=12\dfrac{1}{2}\ \text{pages per hour}

Hence, his rate is 12 1/2 pages per hour.

PLEASE HELP ASAP I WILL MARK BRILLIANT
Tamiku [17]
In a store, perhaps. People want it to be easy to shop, so it would be best for say, a top ramen package to be the same net weight as all the other top ramen packages. This makes it 1) easy to label and 2) easy to be confident buying, as it is exactly the same as all the others.

Find the slope of a line that goes through the points (5,-2) and (1,0).
Nadya [2.5K]

Answer:

B(-1/2)

Step-by-step explanation:

So remember, the slope is y2-y1/x2/x1. Note that y2 means the second y adn x2 means the second x.

So lets plug in our numbers for the top of our fraction, y2-y1. This is 0- - 2.

You should get postive 2, since -- equals a + so it would be 0+2 equaling 2.

This is your y value of your slope.

Next lets find the x value of the slope.

Lets plug in our numbers for the bottem raction this time, which is x2-x1. This is 1-5.

You should get negative 4, since 1-5 equals -4.

This is the x value of the slope.

Knowing your y and x value of the slope, we can tell that the slope will be:

2/-4

This can be simplyfied to -1/2. Since 2 goes into 2, 1 time(for y). Then 2 goes into -4, -2 times(for x). So now its 1/-2.

The negative sign can just be moved to the front since it is the only negative and does not change:

Answer:

<u>-1/2</u>
