Let A = {2, 4} and B = {1, 3, 5} and define a relation U, V and W from A to B as follows: For every (x, y) is in A ✕ B,every (x,

y) is in U means thay y - x > 2. every (x, y) is in V means thay y - 1 = x/2. W = {(2, 5), (4, 1), (2, 3)}. (a) Draw arrow diagrams for U, V and W (b) Indicate whether any of the relations U, V, and W are functions.

Answer:

Given,

A = {2,4},

B = {1, 3, 5}

U, V and W are the relation from A and B as follow,

U = { (x,y) : y - x > 2, x∈A, y∈B }

V = { (x,y) : y - 1 = x/2, x∈A, y∈B }

W = {(2, 5), (4, 1), (2, 3)},

∵ 1-2 = -1, 1-4 = -3, 3-2 = 1, 3-4 = -1, 5-2 = 3, 5 - 4 =1,

Thus, U = { (2,5) },

Also, 1 - 1 = 0, 3 - 1 = 2, 5 - 1 = 4

∵ 2=\frac{4}{2}\text{ where }4\in A

⇒ V = { (4,3) }

(a) Drawing is shown below,

(b) Since, a relation is called function if each input has only one output,

Hence, U and V are functions while W is not the function.

Check that x=2 and y=5 is a solution of both equations below:<br> X+2y=12<br> 3x+6y=36 *
melamori03 [73]

Answer:

yes

Step-by-step explanation:

Substitute x = 2 and y = 5 into the left side of the equations and if equal to the right side then they are a solution.

x + 2y = 2 + 2(5) = 2 + 10 = 12 ← True

3x + 6y = 3(2) + 6(5) = 6 + 30 = 36 ← True

Thus x = 2, y = 5 is a solution to both equations

–16(10u – 90) = 32(8u + 71) <br> please show work
pentagon [3]
First you need to multiply the number on the outside of the parentheses to what's inside. Then you need to subtract 1440 from both sides. After that you need to get all of the u's on one side so you subtract 256u from -160u and then you divide 832 by 96.

Does the chart below represent a proportional relationship? What is the rate of change?
Lilit [14]

This chart represents a proportional relationship. The rate of change will be 4.

<h3>What is the constant of proportionality?</h3>

Firstly, there is a proportional relationship.

Two values x  and y are said to be in a proportional relationship if x=ky, where x and y are variables and k is a constant.

The constant k is called the constant of proportionality.

Given;

x y

1 4

2 8

3 12

4 16

Here, x = ky

put the first value

k = 1/4

This chart represents a proportional relationship.

So the rate of change will be

Rate = \dfrac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}\\\\Rate = \dfrac{8 - 4}{2 - 1}\\\\Rate = 4
