How many of each kind of atom is in one molecule of water?
Reil [10]

The chemical formula for water is H2O which means that every molecule of water has 2 atoms of hydrogen (H) and one atom of oxygen (O). Here comes the key part. From the Periodic Table of Elements, one sees that one molecule of oxygen atoms weigh 16 grams.

How do cells separate from each other?
Aliun [14]

There are two types of cell division: mitosis and meiosis. Most of the time when people refer to “cell division,” they mean mitosis, the process of making new body cells. Meiosis is the type of cell division that creates egg and sperm cells.

Mitosis is a fundamental process for life. During mitosis, a cell duplicates all of its contents, including its chromosomes, and splits to form two identical daughter cells. Because this process is so critical, the steps of mitosis are carefully controlled by a number of genes. When mitosis is not regulated correctly, health problems such as cancer can result.

The other type of cell division, meiosis, ensures that humans have the same number of chromosomes in each generation. It is a two-step process that reduces the chromosome number by half—from 46 to 23—to form sperm and egg cells. When the sperm and egg cells unite at conception, each contributes 23 chromosomes so the resulting embryo will have the usual 46. Meiosis also allows genetic variation through a process of DNA shuffling while the cells are dividing.

What happens if you drop some type of liquid on a cable such as a phone charger? Can you get hurt? Can you still use it?
ipn [44]

It really just depends. If the liquid got in any crevices it might not work. If it wasn't plugged in, no you cannot get hurt. But I've had chargers that I spilled water on and they still work fine, but again, it depends. Like if there's a tear in the cord that liquid got in, then no it probably won't work anymore.

The phosphorylation of fructose 6-phosphate to fructose-1,6-bisphosphate is the committed step in glycolysis because.
Tatiana [17]

The committed step is the one after which the substrate has only one way to go. Because glycolytic intermediates feed into several other pathways, the regulation of glycolysis occurs at more than one point. This allows the regulation of several pathways to be coordinated.

What is glycolysis ?

A process through which cells partially break down glucose (sugar) via oxygen-free enzyme activities. One process that cells use to make energy is glycolysis.

 • In glycolysis, sugar molecules are disassembled to produce the energy needed for cellular metabolism. It takes place in the cell's cytoplasm. Thousands of ATP molecules are produced during glycolysis and are utilised for several types of cellular metabolism.
