Let's see what to do buddy...

_________________________________

We have following equation for finding the slope of the lines using two points :

slope =  \frac{y(b) - y(a)}{x(b) - x(a)} \\

Where a and b are the points which the line through them.

_________________________________

A = ( 8 , 9 )

B = ( -2 , 4 )

Now just put the coordinates in the above equation :

slope =  \frac{4 - 9}{ - 2 - 8} =  \frac{ - 5}{ - 10} =  \frac{1}{2}   \\

_________________________________

A)

The answer is :

slope =  \frac{1}{2} \\

_________________________________

B)

First we must choose one of the A or B points.

I choose : B = ( -2 , 4 )

We need using the following equation:

y - y(b) = (slope) \times ( \: x -  \: x(b) \: ) \\

y - 4 =  \frac{1}{2}(x + 2) \\

It's the point-slope form of the line..

_________________________________

C)

We just need to simplifies the above equation to find the slope-intercept form.

Look :

y - 4 =  \frac{1}{2}(x + 2) \\

y - 4 =  \frac{1}{2}x + 1 \\

Both sides plus 4

y =  \frac{1}{2}x + 1 + 4  \\

y =  \frac{1}{2}x + 5 \\

It's the slope-intercept form of the line.

And we're done.

Thanks for watching buddy good luck.

Which expression is equivalent to -5(x+10)?
Kruka [31]
The final expression would be -5x -50.

You could've got this by multiplying -5 and x together, which is -5x.
Multiply -5 and 10 together, and you get -50.
This is also called the Distributive Property. Hope this helped :)
