Amulius revolted against his brother Numitor and seized the throne against his father's ( Procas) will and his brother's seniority.
King Numitor was deposed by his younger brother Amulius who took over the throne and tried to prevent Rhea from having children so that there would be no potential heirs to the throne. She bore twins Romulus and Romus by the war God Mars. Amulius ordered that the twins be drowned but they floated in the water and survived. They eventually became leaders of a band of youths. Amulius was killed by them and their grandfather was restored to the throne.
