Answer:

The two sentences have the same poetic device: simile.

Explanation:

A simile is a figure of speech used with the intention of making a comparison - stating a similarity - between two different things. It uses words such as "as" or "like", making a direct comparison - as opposed to a metaphor, which makes in indirect one.

In the sentences below, we find examples of simile:

1. The men at the windows had not yet swooped into the Hall, like birds of prey from their high perches.

2. Every green leaf, every blade of grass and blade of grain, was as shriveled and poor as the miserable people.

Both sentences are comparing completely different things in order to attribute similar qualities to them. In the first one, the men are being compared to birds of prey, which are fast and deadly. In the second one, the leaves, grass, and grains are being compared to the people, all of them being miserable. Both comparisons are done with the help of the words "like" and "as".

Question: What was the most traumatic incident that occured during your childhood? Write a short story about that event, but wri
zmey [24]

Emily was happy sitting on the back of her father's bicycle, while watching the vegetation that ran around her, due to the movement of the bicycle. Her mother was right behind her, on another bicycle, and every few minutes she was waving at her. The walk to their house was long and it was already a little late for a 4 year old girl to be awake, which made Emily struggle with the sleep that invaded her. He couldn't sleep on the back of his bike, because he couldn't hold on to his father and he would end up falling. So she promised to stay awake.

However, the sleep was very strong and she felt she was beginning to doze when she felt a tearing pain in one of her feet. Amid Emily's screams and cries, her father stopped the bike quickly and her mother sped up to catch up with them and find out what happened.

Emily's foot was bathed in blood and her side had lost all of its skin. Emily pinned her foot to one of the bicycle's tires in the middle of the nap, which caused the metal part to remove all the skin on her foot and put her through a moment of great pain.

Emily's parents rushed her to a hospital to have the professionals stop the bleeding and make some kind of dressing to help her. They did not know the severity of the cut and were afraid.

The nurse who attended Emily took care to stop the blood, stitch the cut, make dressings and give some recommendations on how Emily should be cared for in the coming days. The cut was not serious, despite leaving her foot badly injured, which indicates that she would need care.

Gradually Emily's foot healed, but after 22 years, she can look at the scar and remember that despite everything going well, that was the worst moment of her childhood.
