Answer: Upwelling of magma from the asthenosphere

The ocean ridges are most often formed on the boundaries in between the two tectonic plates, specifically on the divergent boundaries. They are very long underwater mountain ranges.

The divergent boundary between the tectonic plates are moving away from each other, making then crust on the separation line thinner. As the crust line get thinner, then the magma from the mantle layer push through it. As it cools down and makes new crust.

Ocean ridges form as a result of the upwelling of magma from the asthenosphere.

Further Explanation:

Ocean ridges are characterized by the “seafloor mountain” made through the “tectonic movement” of the plates present in the gravity of 2,600 M. It can rise up to 2km overhead the deepest ocean basin. This process occurs at the divergent plate borderline. The rate at which the dispersion of the seafloor occurs determines the morphology of the ridge and width of the “Ocean basin”. The new oceanic and seafloor thus constituted is the resultant of mantle upwelling and plate separation.

The molten magma erupts up from the faults as lava and then forms an oceanic crust, which on cooling forms the lithosphere. During the volcanic eruption, magnetic minerals emit having magnetic properties and can attract any metal. They also have the ability to generate a magnetic field around the area where they are present. Amid the divergent boundary in tectonic plates, they move apart from each other, rubbing each other.

Obsidians glassy texture indicates that it formed
OleMash [197]

Answer:

on the surface rapidly

Explanation:

Obsidian glassy texture indicates that the rock formed on the surface rapidly.

Like every other magma, the condition of the environment determines how the magma cools and solidifies.

  • When magma cools rapidly, nucleation centers will be difficult to come- by ..
  • At nucleation centers, minerals aggregates and grows to form different grain sizes.
  • When rapid cooling occurs, not enough time is given for the aggregation around the nucleus.
  • This leaves a rock mass that is finely grained.
