In his very famous speech Martin Luther King Jr speaks of a dream that he sees for America. He speaks of a United America where races can be "brothers" or live in peace with one another. Although the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed 100 years before races where still treated with inequality. King wanted that to change when he gave this speech he gave everyone hope for a future America
Well economically, South Carolina had a cash crop of rice. Rice could grow easily because of the swampy environment South Carolina could offer. The Carolinas both also had a cash crop of tobacco and indigo.
In the past past, during Great Depression no one liked them because they had a whole bunch of rights and things that the poor/ lower class didn’t. Also in 1800s the upper class was the kings and rich men of the world, no one liked them because they were greedy and didn’t care for others but themselves
It was never seriously considered. It was not used because it would have been to hard, as there was many failed attempts at it before.
