Who were the Boers? How did they influence the European presence in South Africa?
Serga [27]
Boers are defined as "descendants of the Dutch-speaking settlers of the eastern Cape frontier in Southern Africa during the 18th century." This had a sort of influence over the British people who were also wanting to move to South Africa, and this caused some tensions between the two European presences in South Africa.

What was the mood of the Continental Congress in the early days of the conflict with Britain?
Scrat [10]
From 1774 to 1789, the Continental Congress served as the government of the 13 American colonies and later the United States. The First Continental Congress, which was comprised of delegates from the colonies, met in 1774 in reaction to the Coercive Acts, a series of measures imposed by the British government on the colonies in response to their resistance to new taxes. In 1775, the Second Continental Congress convened after the American Revolutionary War (1775-83) had already begun. In 1776, it took the momentous step of declaring America’s independence from Britain. Five years later, the Congress ratified the first national constitution, the Articles of Confederation, under which the country would be governed until 1789, when it was replaced by the current U.S. Constitution.

What role did business and religion play in the conservative movement?
Vitek1552 [10]

By Marcus Hawkins

Updated March 17, 2019

Quite often, those on the left of the political spectrum dismiss political conservative ideology as the product of religious fervor.

At first blush, this makes sense. After all, the conservative movement is populated by people of faith. Christians, Evangelicals, and Catholics tend to embrace the key aspects of conservatism, which include limited government, fiscal discipline, free enterprise, a strong national defense, and traditional family values. This is why many conservative Christians side with Republicanism politically. The Republican Party is most associated with championing these conservative values.
