What you will see when you look at the dermis of a hand in a manual worker is callus.

Further explanation

Calluses are a skin disease caused by excessive pressure and friction that can cause thickening or hardening of the skin. Calluses are formed as the body's reaction to protect sensitive skin. Calluses can cause discomfort or pain when walking. Generally, skin affected by calluses will turn yellowish.

Because the affected skin becomes thicker, the skin is also less sensitive to touch. Some calluses can form from the wrong way of walking.

The signs of calluses on your skin are:

  • Some skin feels rough and thickened.
  • Pain under the skin.
  • Some lumps harden on the skin.
  • Some skin turns dry, soft or split.

Calluses vary in size and shape, and rarely cause pain. For people who have diabetes or poor blood circulation, consult a doctor before treating your calluses because even a small injury to the foot can cause an infected wound. Consult a doctor immediately if calluses begin to cause pain or inflammation.

Some of the common causes of calluses are:

  • Too often playing a musical instrument or using hand tools can cause calluses.
  • Wear uncomfortable shoes. Narrow or high-heeled shoes can squeeze a part of the foot. Conversely, when wearing shoes too loose, the feet will rub against the inside of the shoe more often.
  • Do not wear socks. Without socks, friction will occur directly on the skin of your feet. Socks that are not suitable size can also be a cause of calluses.

For someone, who is a manual laborer, when you look at the dermis of his hand you will see CALLUS.
Mechanical stress from manual work has the effect of accelerating the multiplication of the keratinocytes on the hands and this results in the formation of callus.

Consider a Caribbean cruise route served by two cruise lines, Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Both lines must choose whether to c
Naddika [18.5K]

Answer:

Joint profits are maximized when Carnival picks $260 and Royal Caribbean picks $260.

Explanation:

                                                 Royal Caribbean

                                   high price low price

                                  $9,000 / $14,720 /

              high price $9,000 $1,620

Carnival

              low price $1,620 / $8,320 /

                                               $14,720 $8,320

Carnival's dominant strategy is to charge a low price ($260) because it yields the highest profits = $14,720 + $8,320 = $23,040.

Royal Caribbean's dominant strategy is to charge a low price ($260) because it yields the highest profits = $14,720 + $8,320 = $23,040.

Since both companies have the same dominant strategy, a Nash equilibrium exists when they both charge a low price ($260).

If the slope for an equation using customer satisfaction to predict profits is 2.4, this means that ________.
Mariulka [41]

Answer: a.Increasing customer satisfaction by one unit will increase profits by 2.4

Explanation:

Slopes measure the change in the dependent variable as a result of a change in the independent variable.

In the above scenario, if customer satisfaction was being used to predict profits that would mean that customer satisfaction is the independent variable and profits are the dependent variable. With a slope of 2.4 therefore, the meaning is that if customer satisfaction increases by 1 then the profits for the company will increase by 2.4.

For instance if customer satisfaction in a hotel was increased by 1 unit for 1,000 customers, the company can expect an increase in profits of $2,400.
