As soon as she returns to Washington, Miss Fairchild is likely to tell her acquaintances and friends about Mr. Easton's job.

In O.Henry's short story "Hearts and Hands", Miss Fairchild is really impressed with Mr. Easton when she learns that he has bagged a job as a Marshal at Leavenworth prison. She thinks of him as one of the dashing western heroes who rides, shoots and gets into all kinds of dangers. She wanted to resume her relationship with Mr. Easton when he returned to Washington.
