Answer:

Sovereignty - is important because this is what gives a government the right to govern itself without any coercive influence from other governments. Without sovereignty, a government is said to be controlled by external forces outside its own control.

Legitimacy - this is important because is what makes government action seem fair to the people it governs. Without legitimacy, the government may be feared, but no respected, and may be subject to revolt.

Jurisdiction - This is important because every government needs a land to rule. A government cannot really exist without having a place under its jurisdiction, as can be seen by historical examples of governments in exile who had no real power.

Fiesta28 [93]

Explanation:

Convection occurs in the Earth's mantle because it is the most efficient way for the Earth to cool or dispose of its deep-seated heat content. In general, heat can be transferred by conduction, radiation or convection.

If global warming were to raise temperatures 1.5°C to 4.5°C, what would most-likely happen?
Pani-rosa [81]

The correct answers are:

- Polar ice caps would melt, increasing sea levels;

Because of the rise of the temperatures, the permafrost, glaciers, and polar ice caps would mostly melt. As they melt, they will increase the sea levels significantly because they will introduce much more water into the the seas and oceans.

- Wildlife would have to migrate or die;

With increasing sea levels, as well as change of habitats, lot of animals would find themselves in situation where they will have to migrate, because if they don't, they will find themselves in water and drown, or starve to death.

- Hurricanes and typhoons could increase in intensity;

Because the water in the sea levels will increase, and the water bodies will become even bigger, the hurricanes and typhoons will be able to become stronger and more intense, thus be more destructive as well.

Explain the reason for having an Equator and a Prime Meridian. How do these two lines help us to navigate our world?
EleoNora [17]

The equator is 0 degree latitude. This imaginary line, which runs through parts of South America, Africa, and Asia, is officially the halfway point between the North Pole and the South Pole.

The prime meridian is 0 degrees longitude. This imaginary line runs through the United Kingdom, France, Spain, western Africa, and Antarctica.

By using the equator and prime meridian, we can divide the world into four hemispheres, north, south, east, and west. For instance, the United States is in the Western Hemisphere (because it is west of the prime meridian) and also in the Northern Hemisphere (because it is north of the equator).

These lines are merely for the identification of where things are on a map or a globe.
