Answer: C. is covered, are

The verbs in option C ( is covered, are) correctly complete the sentence: "One-third of the temple complex is covered by sand, and forty meters are too deep to dig safely." In this case with fraction, the verb agrees with the noun (temple complex), which is in the singular. And "forty meters" is plural and requires a plural verb.

How can one topic in a text be the foundation for several themes?
Dimas [21]

Answer:

“Theme is the central message of a literary work. It is not the same as a subject, which can be expressed in a word or two: courage, survival, war, pride, etc. The theme is the idea the author wishes to convey about that subject. It is expressed as a sentence or general statement about life or human nature. A literary work can have more than one theme, and most themes are not directly stated but are implied. The reader must think about all the elements of the work and use them to make inferences, or reasonable guesses, as to which themes seem to be implied.

Explanation:

For example, if love is a topic/subject of two novels, a major theme in one of the novels could be “Love, if taken to extremes, can be negative rather than positive,” while in the other novel, the theme might be “Love can conquer even the greatest evil.” Notice that the topic/subject is the same, but the messages about that topic/subject are different in different works.

You have read the passage “Boston Navy Yard and the ‘Great War,’ 1914-1918,” in which the author describes the history of the Bo
horsena [70]

Answer and Explanation:

We know that in the current world the USA is a great power. This title was applied to the country, not only for its stability and economic success, but also for its warlike power constituted by a powerful army, together with an imposing navy.

The American navy was modernized and transformed by Roosevelt, who decided that this would be important for the protection of the USA, in the midst of growing conflicts in Eurapa, on account of WW1. As we can see from the text “Boston Navy Yard and the 'Great War,' 1914-1918,” during the paragraph "Shortly after the outbreak of World War I in August 1914, President Woodrow Wilson declared that the United States would remain neutral. It would become the navy's job to protect the nation's neutrality at sea and at home by stationing destroyers at Boston Navy Yard. "

However, this neutrality did not last long and the United States needed to enter the conflict and use its navy efficiently, in addition to protecting the country and establishing the nation as a power.

The Boston Navy Yard was very important in this process and since it was a symbol of the country's naval growth, it was not placed directly in the battles, but served as a repair post, repairing smaller vessels, taking supplies, ammunition, among others. elements that were essential for the victory of the USA and for the stabilization of the current power. As we can see in the lines "Equally important, the yard oversaw the outfitting and commissioning of a steady stream of warships built by private shipbuilding concerns. These would include destroyers and submarines constructed at Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation's Fore River Shipyard and its Victory Destroyer Plant, both located in Quincy, Massachusetts. "

Which sentence uses the correct pronoun?
Vinvika [58]
The correct pronoun would be, Each king must have his castle;

Because the first one, Each king must have it's castle, does not make sense because of the It's, a king is a male person so it should be his.

It's not the third one because, Each king must have his or her castle, doesn't make sense because a king is a male not a female so her would not be used to define a man.

The fourth one would be incorrect too because, Each king must have their castle, makes no sense either because their is for more than one person and in this case we are just talking about kings no one else

Hope this helped! :)

In literature, what is the MAIN purpose of caricature?
Genrish500 [490]
Caricatures in literature allow for writers to overly exaggerate traits of a character in order to have an effect on the reader. Because characters often seem ridiculous due to the over exaggerations provided by the author, this usually creates a humorous mood for the reader.
