The answer is the region is dominated by deserts and high elevations. The area was not subject to World War II combat as far as I know. It is not subject to typhoons and I don't believe it has dominated by warlords for 100s of years. It is mostly the Gobi desert and there is very little water, thus a large population could not survive there.

The correct answer is C: The region is dominated by desert and high elevations.

The Gobi Desert covers a large part of Western China, where the soil is arid and there is little rainfall. Due to unfavorable climate and soil for farming and production, Western China is not conducive to living. Due to this, China's western regions are sparsely populated compared to other parts of China, where production and farming are more conducive.

The short residence time of water in the atmosphere allows a water molecule to have a stronger ability to do which of the follow
Katena32 [7]

Answer: B. participate in the hydrologic cycle

Explanation: Residence time of water is the rate of water in a water reservoir such as the ocean or the atmosphere divided by how fast more water is added to it or lost from it.

While residence time is thousands of years in oceans, water in the atmosphere has a short residence time of abut 10 – 11 days. This allows it to participate in the hydrologic cycle which includes evaporation and precipitation. Water in the atmosphere precipitates as snow or rain, returning to other water reservoirs.
