North American tribes had well-defined gender roles. These roles were different between one tribe and another and were constructed from those of cultural concepts aimed at the men and women of the tribe.
Some tribes defined these gender roles in a similar way, as was the case with American Indian tribes in both the Northeast and Southeast of the country. These tribes reserved women for jobs aimed at agriculture and the culprit of the elderly who were more fragile and could not contribute to the work of the tribe.
It was the decade in which women first abandoned the more restricting fashions of past years and began to wear more comfortable clothes (such as short skirts or trousers).
