When lava flows over an area a wide flat surface called lava plateau is formed.Lava is molten rocks that are formed deep in the surface of the Earth where temperatures are very high and can melt rocks.The lava can flow to cover a large area of land and solidify to create the plateau.An example is the Colombian plateau in the United States.
