Begin by following the herd . . . call the two numbers 'x' and 'y' .

You said that  xy=1 ,  so  y = 1/x

You said that  x + y = 10, so          x + 1/x = 10

Multiply each side by 'x':                  x² + 1 = 10x

Subtract 10x from each side:   x² - 10x + 1  =  0

Use the quadratic formula to solve this, and the two solutions
that you get for  'x'  are also the two numbers  'x'  and  'y' .
They are

     <em>9.89898</em>
and
     <em>0.10102</em>

   (rounded)

I'd say

Put one end of the compass on point P and the other end on point Q.

This way, you can construct (part of) a circumference with radius PQ with center P.

If you connect point P with any point on the circumference, this segment will be another radius of the circumference, and thus congruent to PQ.

The graph of the function f(x)=4/5 sqrt x is shown.<br> What is the domain of the function?
S_A_V [24]

Answer:

All real number greater than equal to zero.

Step-by-step explanation:

The function is given by

f(x) = \frac{4}{5}\sqrt x

The domain is defined as the input values so that the function is well defined.

here, the values of x should be all real number and zero also.

So, the correct option is  (d).

A building is 50 feet tall and casts a 25 foot shadow. If Mark is 6 feet tall, how long would
trasher [3.6K]

Answer:

Mark's shadow would be 3 feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

If a building is 50 feet tall and casts a 25 foot shadow, then the shadow of an object is <u>1/2</u> the length of the actual object.

This can be supported by the division problem:

50 ÷ 2 = 25

If Mark is 6 feet tall, then we need to <em><u>divide</u></em> 6 by 2 in order to find the length of the shadow.

6 ÷ 2 = 3

Therefore, Mark's shadow would be 3 feet.

Hope this helps! :D
