5. How did an assassination lead to WWI? A.The assassination forced the United States to create alliances to bring peace to Euro
scZoUnD [109]

The answer is C.

After the assassination Austro-Hungary sent an ultimatum to Serbia to investigate the assassination in Serbia, but Serbia declined the ultimatum, so Austro-Hungary declared war to Serbia. Then Russia declared war to Austro-Hungary and Germany declared war to Russia. Then the Ottoman Empire joined Germany and Austro-Hungary and they created an alliance and some other countries joined as well. After that, Great Britain, Russia and France created an alliance as well, and some other countries also joined their alliance. That's a short summary of how the WW1 started.

The Union used a military strategy known as the Anaconda Plan. Which of the following describes this strategy correctly?
Temka [501]

Developed by General Scott, the Anaconda Plan was Scott's plan to blockade the Southern Coast and then go up around Texas and down the Mississippi into into Southern territories wreaking havoc and destruction as it was slowly getting strangled off from commerce.

The general idea was that if one was to blockade the South's coasts, you'd be able to keep them from getting supplies.

Historians have not been kind to the Anaconda Plan, commenting on the misidentification of the South's supply chains and what was actually necessary to cripple the Southern economy.
