Can people like Winston's neighbor, who has completely accepted the Party thinking, be free in those cubic centimeters?
insens350 [35]

Clearly. Charles has the advantage since his country, if not his party, invented the decimal system of measurements. He can have as much volume as he wants. But he didn’t accept the party thinking; he created the party thinking.

Where in a thesaurus will you find a synonym for the word "coax"? A after "coat" B before "coast" C before "blue" D after "coin"
Advocard [28]

Answer: A. after "coat"

Explanation:

A thesaurus lists words in alphabetical order which is why the word "coax" would come after the word, "coat" because the last letter "x" in coax comes after the last letter "t" in coat.

B is incorrect because the "x" in coax comes after the "s" in coast so coax would come after coast not before. C is incorrect because blue begins with b and will definitely come after coax which starts with c.

Finally D is incorrect as well because the "a" in coax comes before the "i" in coin in the alphabet so coax will come before coin not after.

How is Mercutio's curse an example of foreshadowing?
Lady_Fox [76]

In "Romeo and Juliet," Mercutio's curse is an example of foreshadowing in the following sense:

B. It predicts the eventual pain the families will endure.

  • In the famous tragic play "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare, Mercutio is a good friend of Romeo's.

  • At a certain point, Mercutio puts a curse on both the families of Romeo and Juliet, the Montagues and the Capulets.

  • That curse serves as foreshadowing, which is a technique in which information is revealed that will later unfold into an important event in the story.

  • In this case, Mercutio's curse reveals that both families will suffer. The reason for their pain will be the death of both Romeo and Juliet.

  • They will both kill themselves as they are not allowed by their families to be together.
