Trade played a more central role in the mercantilist period of European history from 1500 to 1750 – sometimes referred to as early capitalism or trade capitalism – than in almost any other period.1 We must begin with the questions: When in human history did the first exchange of goods between Europe and the other four continents of Africa, Asia, America and Australia occur? Where are the origins of what one could describe as on-going exchange, as established economic relations to be found? These questions refer to an even larger global context because the global economic edifice changed fundamentally from "proto-globalization" to globalization .2 This process was primarily determined by Europe from the 15th to the 20th century. From the 16th century to 1914, trade within Europe at all times constituted the most significant portion of global trade, and the volume of that trade grew disproportionately quickly during the early modern period and into the modern period.3 National markets became increasingly interconnected, driven by numerous innovations in the areas of infrastructure, transportation , energy supply, and – not least – institutions (rules, constitutions, division of labour, currency standards, etc.). The transition from individual production to mass production and the convergence of prices of goods and materials made transactions considerably easier, thereby accelerating integration.

Starting in the late Middle Ages at the latest and continuing at least into the 19th century, Europe dominated most developments in international trade. From the end of the 19th century, North America began to exert a stronger influence on the global economy.4 Around the beginning of the 21st century, the Asian states – most notably China – gained influence and the USA became financially dependent on its East Asian creditors, while China seems to become the engine of growth of the current century.

How was the Constitution significant in helping African Americans to gain civil rights?
nadya68 [22]
After the Civil War, the US Constitution became a means to ensure that African-Americans had rights in American society. This was due to the passage of the following three amendments:

1) 13th amendment- This outlawed slavery or forced labor all over the US.

2) 14th amendment- This amendment states that any person born on US soil or naturalized has all of the rights/freedoms guaranteed in the US Constitution.

3) 15th amendment- This amendment states that a person cannot be stopped from voting based on race, color, or past servitude. Essentially, this makes it so that a government can't stop a person from voting based on the fact that they were a slave before this time period.

Why is the commission government useful in city planning? a. since most planning is done as an after thought commissions would f
Elenna [48]

The correct answer is C.

City Commission Government is a form of local government in the United States. The voters select a small commission, typically of five or seven members, who constitute the legislative and executive body of the city. This body enacts local ordinances and administer them.

The commissioners are responsible to the voters. In order to be elected, a commissioner has to present a plan or a vision of goals to be achieved if elected. A candidate may present city planning strategies which appeal to a large number of people. In that case, the commissioner would probably get elected and his city planning initiatives would reflect the ideas of people who voted for him.

According to Burkeman, on what way are depressed people mentally stronger than non-depressed people? Do you agree or disagree wi
Travka [436]
Haha, I love this question. Ok, I’ve got this. I feel like depressed people, born with it or had obtained it, really feel like they’ve been through the ringer. They feel like they’ve been beat down harder than most can fathom. They’ve hit a rock bottom that they often thought there was no escape from. However, this seems to make them more tolerant when they resurface from their all time low. They let things roll off them a lot easier than before to avoid falling back into their old routine. They want to avoid ever hitting another rock bottom, so they seemingly become more patient and more relaxed about many situations. I, myself, agree that the depressed people of the world really are mentally stronger than people who’ve never experienced such a hard rock bottom. Sure, everyone has a gloomy day once in awhile. For the depressed, everyday is the worst day Of their life. It takes a real strong willed person to work past a constant stream of never ending dark days.
