Farmers would get more done in less time without having to pay farmhands to come and help them. People were bought and sold, and people made profit off them. In other words, they were free labor in this time.

I would be extremely upset. first and for most try to find a reason on why they stole my land. IF the government wanted to act foolish and take my land for no valid reason I would fight to get it back! after all the fifth amendment States 'nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.'
