Scary things in nature explained through use of imaginary stories.

Cracks of thunder bellowing were explained by use of myths in Ancient Greece. Zuess, the thunder god would throw the lightning bolts from high within the dark swirling clouds in these supposedly fictional tales. Today, we know the grey clouds are the real cause.
