Answer:

Tessie Hutchinson is stoned to death.

Explanation:

"The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson is a short story about a community's annual practice of conducting a lottery to victimize one person to death. This practice of sacrificing one member of the community is their way of ensuring the continued sustenance of the people.

In a small community in a fictional town in contemporary America, the time for the <em>"annual lottery" </em>is conducted. The people are made to pick a piece of paper and based on who picks a paper with black spot in it will be stoned to death. This practice is done to ensure the continued sustenance of the village. The lot fell on Mrs. Tessie Hutchinson, who reluctantly had to comply. But not before she exclaimed that "<em>it isn't fair, it isn't right</em>". She then, is stoned to death.

aliina [53]
I would say answer A because none of the other responses make sense with the context given. The father only picked out the parts in life he wanted to live by and that he believed in. Those things were important to him if he chose to live by them, hence him “knowing the important things in life”.
