Abigail Adams was the wife of John Adams and the mother of John Quincy Adams. Her husband John Adams was a Second President for the United States and a leader of the movement for American independence from Great Britain. 

She is well known for all of the the letters she sent to Adams while he was attending the Continental Congress in Pennsylvania. The letters were filled with advice to her husband, after he sought her opinion on many governmental and political issues.
