During Jackson's time, the common white man was giving the right to vote. During reconstruction ( the period after the civil war ) voting could no longer be denied on race or color because of the 15 the amendment, but still only applied to men. Women got the right to vote with the 19th amendment in 1920.

James Wilkinson was an American Soldier and the senior of Zebulon Pike in the military. He was commanded by Wilkinson to head the expedition of Southwestern America in 1805. Even though he achieved most of the objectives of the expedition, he still encountered some challenges.

In one sense the (the right to vote, to free speech, to fair and equal treatment, etc.,) movement in the United States is a special American important thing/big event which must be understood in the light of American history and dealt with in terms of the American situation. But on another and more important level, what is happening in the United States today is a significant part of a world development.
