Answer:

Charles Horton Cooley

Explanation:

Cooley was influenced by Darwinism and Pragmatism and Weber's law. But Cooley was different from Weber's Law. Cooley's most contribution was in looking glass self. looking glass self-focused on self-relation, but it doesn't focus on self-relation but includes others too. Cooley denotes that an individual is a part of society, but it was only the distributive and collective aspects of the same thing Cooley possess that its a human being quality to interact with other people who are around them. From the beginning of history, the self is the center of common grounds. Cooley harmonized self-feeling and social feeling on the common ground because both are sides of the same phenomena.

What things did Peter Stuyvesant do to fix and improve the problems in New Amsterdam?
Mandarinka [93]

Answer:

Peter Stuyvesant (1592–1672) was the last director-general of the New Amsterdam and is famous for expanding this colony and building several landmark projects, such as Broadway.

With a true dutch spirit of running a settlement, he addressed the fire issue in the city with a number of improvements. In order to reduce the risk of fire, colonists were commanded to remove wooden chimneys and replace roofs made of thatch, because they presented a fire hazard. He also introduced first fire wardens in the New Amsterdam, which laid foundation for the first fire department in the United States.

In addition, Stuyvesant set speed limits on the streets of New Amsterdam and directed taverns to be closed at 9 p.m. to reduce drunk fighting on the streets.

Write a short note on democracy.

A democracy can be regarded as a system of governance in which the population elects its representatives directly and has the power to legislate. Typically, a democracy's population has increased through time. The definition of "the people" and the manner in which power is shared or exercised by the people, however, have changed over time and at different rates in various nations.

Among the guiding principles of democracy are freedom of assembly, freedom from unjustified governmental interference with one's right to life and liberty, consent of the governed, freedom of speech, inclusivity and equality, voting rights, citizenship, association, property rights, and minority rights. Over time, democracy has undergone substantial change. The first type of democracy was know as the direct democracy. The most common kind of democracy used today is a representational democracy, such as a parliamentary or presidential democracy. The representatives who will represent the people in government are chosen by the people under this sort of democracy.
