There are many countries where it is illegal to look out for a candidate's social media profile during the hiring process. But apart from this, it's always beneficial for employers to be able to check their candidates social media profiles during the hiring process. This is mainly because:
1. Social media tells a lot about a person. The employer gets to know if the person is an introvert or an extrovert, the kind of people he hangs out with, and his location details by simply glancing through a candidate’s social media profile.
2. It saves money by not hiring a person for background checking.
3. A candidate’s profile also let us know about his social media skills.
4. Social media screening helps in hiring a better candidate.
5. Many times we also get to know which brand and Company do the candidate prefer the most from their social media.
Checking a candidate social media profile during the hiring process is certainly good, but it is always better to be careful about the fake social media accounts and cross-check the details by personally meeting the candidate.
