The Protestant Reformation that began in Europe helped settlement in colonial America. It created forces that pushed explorers and migrants towards North America. Many ran there to escape prosecution in the new colonies, many went exploring from England and many colonists were inspired to create a better society where they wouldn't be pressed by others to change.
