Answer: B. poor in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is an autobiographical novel by Betty Smith. The novel tells the story of a girl who grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York City. The story takes place in the first two decades of the 20th century, and the girl struggles not only with the society of the time, but also with poverty and other social limitations. The book is meant to mirror the Tree of Heaven. It is a metaphor for the girl who was able to grow and develop despite hardship.
