Jean Jacques Rousseau is a French political philosopher who enlightened the European nation with his theory.
According to his theory,<em> "The Social Contract,"</em> the citizen's obligation will depend upon the agreement they have with each other in order to form a society with a government. He believes that <u> people only obeys when the power is legitimate and when they are not coerced.</u> This means that the people should have a say when it comes to the laws that govern them.
In his theory, he provided examples of the "old regime," the ancient regime that was once was followed in France where absolute monarchy was followed. For him, there should be a direct democracy where people are involved in initiating policies. This inspired several reforms in Europe.
