Depth of field is the distance between the closest and farthest objects in a photo that appears acceptably sharp. Now your camera can only focus sharply at one point. But the transition from sharp to unsharp is gradual, and the term 'acceptably sharp' is a loose one!

A timeline would allow for historical events to be noted and compared to the events happening in the story (dueing that particular period in time).
A Venn Diagram would be most useful to compare (and contrast) one particular incident.
A chart is a little vague as to how it would be beneficial.
