Supreme Court justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. meant that citizens must pay taxes as a way to help society stay organized.
I agree with him because taxes pay for several different services that are essential to American society. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
1) Public schools- School funding, teacher salaries, and the support staff of a school are all paid by tax dollars.
2) Emergency services- Police departments and fire departments are also funded by tax money.
3) Government services/employees- The people who make our laws and who provide help through government programs are all paid for their efforts thanks to taxes.
The two countries changed from being friendly allies to being fierce rivals. <span>Because of the difference in the way they were affected after the war and political and economic differences, their postwar goals were different so therefor they stayed separate. </span>
