Write each fraction as a sum or difference. \frac{3n+5}{7}: \frac{3n}{7} + \frac{5}{7}

<h3>Further explanation </h3>

The fraction is a number that represents a part of a whole. It consists of a numerator and a denominator. The numerator represents the number of equal parts of a whole, while the denominator is the total number of parts that make up whole. The lowest common denominator is the lowest common multiple of the denominators of a set of fractions. It simplifies adding, subtracting, and comparing fractions. The fraction is a number that represents a part of a whole.

Simplify: \frac{5}{7}

Rewriting the whole as an Equivalent Fraction :

Adding a fraction to a whole . Then rewrite the whole as a fraction using  7  as the denominator :

\frac{3n}{7}

Where equivalent fraction is the fraction, thus generated looks different but has the same value as the whole . And common denominator is the equivalent fraction and the other fraction involved in the calculation share the same denominator

Then we can add the two equivalent fractions which now have a common denominator.  Combine the numerators together, put the sum or difference over the common denominator then reduce to lowest terms if possible

\frac{3n}{7} + \frac{5}{7}

<span>To write the given fraction ,as a sum or difference of any two fractions, we break the numerator into two parts. i.e. we write 3n + 5 as separately 3n and 5 to get two fractions. The denominator will come with both the parts of the separated numerator. Thsu, the new fraction will be 3n/7 + 5/7.</span>

Find the value of (x + 1) in this equation.<br><br> 13(6x − 5) − x = 13 − 2(x + 1)
Mandarinka [93]

Answer: The value of x is 155/79.

Step-by-step explanation:

13(6x -5 )-x= 13 -2(x +1)

78x - 65- x = 13 -2x -2

77x -65 = 11-2x

79x -65 =11

79x =76

x = 76/79    76/ 79 + 1/1  = 155/79

MatroZZZ [7]

Answer:

1,050 years

Step-by-step explanation:

A comet passes Earth every 70 years.

Another comet passes Earth

every 75 years

If both comets pass Earth this year, how many years

will it be before they both pass Earth on the same year again?

Find the lowest common multiple of 70 years and 75 years

70 years = 70, 140, 210 , 280, 350, 420, 490, 560, 630, 700, 770, 840, 910, 980, 1050, 1120, 1190, 1260,

75 years = 75, 150, 225 , 300, 375, 450, 525, 600, 675, 750, 825, 900, 975, 1050, 1125, 1200, 1275, 1350

Lowest common multiple of 70 years and 75 years is 1,050 years

Therefore,

If both comets pass Earth this year, they both pass Earth the same year again in the next 1,050 years

A town in east Texas received 15 inches of rain in two weeks. If it kept raining at this rate for a 31−day month, how much rain
blsea [12.9K]

Answer:

33 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

The problem above shows a <em>"direct proportion,"</em> which means that when one quantity increases <em>(days)</em>, the other quantity increases<em> (inches of rain).</em>

Step 1: Represent the amount of rain by n.

Step 2: Setup a proportion.

            \frac{15}{14} = \frac{n}{31} (where 14 refers to the number of days in 2 weeks)

Step 3: Cross multiply:

           15 x 31 = 14n

            465 = 14n

Step 4: Find n by dividing both sides by 14.

            n = 33.21

Step 5: Round off to the nearest inch.

           n = 33 inches

Find the equation of a line with the following information. Passes through (4,3) and is perpendicular to the straight line 3x-2y
Natasha_Volkova [10]
3x - 2y + 4 = 0
-2y = -3x - 4
y = 3/2x + 2...slope here is 3/2. A perpendicular line will have a negative reciprocal slope. To find the negative reciprocal of a number, flip the number and change the sign. So the slope we will need is -2/3 (see how I flipped 3/2, making it -2/3...and changed the sign, making it -2/3.)

y = mx + b
slope(m) = -2/3
(4,3)...x = 4 and y = 3
now sub and find b, the y int
3 = -2/3(4) + b
3 = -8/3 + b
3 + 8/3 = b
9/3 + 8/3 = b
17/3 = b

so ur perpendicular equation is : y = -2/3x + 17/3....or 2x + 3y = 17...or 2x + 3y - 17 = 0
