Social Darwinism can be resumed by the phrase "survival of the fittest" used by Herbert Spencer. This phrase already gives us  a clue of the characteristics of this theory. This set of beliefs was developed from the late 1800's Darwin's Evolution by natural selection theory, it was used to justify political, economic, and social views. Social Darwinism stablished the laws of natural selection applied in the same way to human groups and races, therefore the weak were diminished and the strong succeded as they were innately better. The same happened in the economy, competition was very important to determine who were the fittest, if someone had a lot of wealth it was due to his superiority. Therefore, markets were encouraged not to be regulated; Spencer was against laws that helped the poor, the workers or the genetically weak.
