Brown v. Board of Education was a very important case of The Supreme court in 1954. This case challenged racial discrimination in public schools. This case set an example of "separate but equal".This says that black and whites are separate but they should be treated equally.

Before this, case African Americans were not allowed to share the same school buses which whites were using. Oliver brown filed a case against the Board of education of Topeka, Kansas in 1951. In this case, he claimed schools for black and white children should be equal. This case supported the "separate but equal "doctrine.

This case set an example against racial inequalities in schools but fell short of achieving its major objective of bringing together the nation’s public schools.
