Montressor, cleverly, approaches Fortunato to help him to tasting of a rare wine which Montressor was able to get through a pipe.
Another characterization of Fortunato was his sense of dressing, he loves wearing jester-clothes.. When Montressor met him at carnival he was wearing a motley jester.
