Answer:

Consequently, on May 24, 1917, Britain introduced its convoy system. Under the new arrangements, a convoy of 10 to 50 merchant ships—along with, possibly, a troopship carrying arms and soldiers—might be escorted by a cruiser, six destroyers, 11 armed trawlers and a pair of torpedo boats with aerial reconnaissance equipment that could detect the movement of underwater submarines. Convoy gathering points were established along the Atlantic coast of North and South America, from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Hampton, Virginia, all the way down to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to handle the transport not only of men and arms but also of foodstuffs and horses, the basic supplies of the Allied war effort.

Answer:

The convoy system, a group of ships sailing together for protection, was designed to help protect cargo in passenger ships during the First and Second World War. The system was created out of desperation.

Explanation:

The convoy system was necessary because it helped them overcome U-boat threats, and prevented them from losing any allied ships (for days and weeks); it also helped equip Britain with important supplies.

inysia [295]

The Fair Housing Act of 1968 had little effect on housing segregation because its enforcement mechanisms were very weak.

What is the significance of the Fair Housing Act?

The Fair Housing Act came into effect in the United States in the year 1968 with the purpose of eliminating the discriminative practices involved in the sale, rent and/or lease of properties based on races.

However, the foundation of the Fair Housing Act, 1968 was considered as very weak, because the Civil Rights Act allowed for the public to keep distance from the American minority groups.
