- obviously they face the dangers of the sea and unexpected currents and element of nature
- common reasons can be remembered as GGG for God, Glory, Gold
God resembles religious reasons to find new lands to convert the people there to spread their faithful ways of life
Glory resembles the fame that the explorers will receive for their new discoveries. Also to boost world status for their represented countries (Portugal and Spain were prominent initially)
Gold resembles the riches and economic reasons. Finding new land and colonizing it will boost their economy by having the new land trade with the mother country and rely on it for all sources to survive, therefore il giving the exploring nation for international status (Glory, for instance)
- a problem could be that the success rate was low and unpredictable. Only very few explorers would make history and thousands died trying to reach for their GGG
