The correct answer is number 3. Remained in rural areas where they worked in jobs such as lumbering and farming.

During Reconstruction, most African American’s families in the South remained in rural areas where they worked in jobs such as lumbering and farming.

African American families were very poor. During the reconstruction, they stayed in the rural areas where they lived. Money was short and opportunities were scarce. During the Reconstruction period, they remained in the rural areas working in the field harvesting the crops or as lumberjacks in the Woods. They did not receive any education and poor they were, there were not many opportunities for them.
