A Negative stain such as India ink or Congo red-Look for the presence of a capsule.

This stain method is usually used to stain the area around the microorganism.

B The Gram stain-Divide bacteria into two groups based on cell wall structure (thick vs. thin).

This is type of differential staining used to distinguish organisms based on their staining properties. Gram + and Gram- bacteria stain different because of different cell wall structure.

C The Ziehl-Neelsen Acid-fast stain- Identify bacteria with waxy cell walls such as: Mycobacterium tuberculosis (the cause of TB).

This is also differential staining method which uses heat and phenol to derive dye into the cells with lipid-rich walls.

D Simple stain with a basic dye-Stain microbes a bright color to make it easier to see them in bright field microscopy.

One dye is used in simple staining in order to determinate the size, shape and arrangement of the cells.

E The Schaeffer-Fulton Endospore stain-Identify Bacillus or Clostridium species, such as the causative agents of anthrax, botulism, tetanus and gangrene.

This is a special type of staining only used for the bacteria that can form endospores. Bacteria are first treated with heat and then with malachite green, which is very strong stain that can penetrate endospores.

The diagram below shows the stump of a tree whose root grew into a small crack in bedrock and split the rock apart.
Drupady [299]

Answer:

Physical Weathering

Explanation:

As per the given conditions in the question, the primary effect is mechanical action which is also known as a physical weathering. During mechanical action, a rock is disintegrated into the smaller pieces. In the given statement, the root of tree would grow in the crack and try to develop a strong network to get nutrients necessary for tha tree growth. Thus, the root would exert a pressure in the crack to make more space for its growth and development (root network). This is primarily a mechanical action and an example of physical weathering.

How is the geologic time scale divided?
Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer: Geologic time is divided into units. Major changes in the earth's surface or climate and the extinction of species help to divide the time scale into smaller units.

Explanation: Rocks grouped within each unit contain a similar fossil record.

Explain why do you think most energy pyramids have less than five levels?
zlopas [31]
The amount of energy available as one moves up the energy pyramid decreases substantially.
Explanation:
At each trophic level, energy is lost primarily through heat loss and respiration.
In the image below, 100% of the energy from the plant is not available to the deer. As we move further from the primary producer (in the image below, the green plant), less and less energy is transferred.
