The French Revolution began with enlightened ideas of liberty, equality and fraternity but ended up with authoritarian regime. We see after the king Louis XIV , the revolutionary factions like Goirondons , Cordliers, Montgnards and Jacobins become more radical and dogmatic as the revolution progressed.
