In the introductory lines, the poet tells that how his ‘wrath’ against his friend ended after confessing it to him. Though the poet tells more about the feeling of hatred which he possessed for his enemy, the emphasis of the poem lies much on the feeling of love. The poet had used words like ‘hatred,’ ‘poison,’ ‘wrath’ throughout the poem so that the immortality of love would flourish upon it ever.
