The Roman Republic was an era during the classical Roman Civilization which took place from 509 BC, until 27 BC, with the establishment of the Roman Empire. The government of The Roman Republic had three different bodies : The Senate, The Consuls and The Assemblies.

Keeping it brief, the Court -- little by little -- gradually asserted that certain rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights are, in some way, "in" the 14th too; that the 14th protects those rights from being violated by the states. But the Court never said that all of the rights in the Bill of Rights are "in" the 14th. Over the course of many decades the Court kept on expanding the list of which rights in the BoR are "in" the 14th, but all along the way the Court kept on saying too, that not all of the rights are "in." By the 1960's *most* of the rights in the BoR were "absorbed" into the 14th.

Another power to add to the list would be: Deciding the legality of executive orders.
An example would be Executive Order 13769, which was titled, "Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States." President Donald Trump signed this order on January 27, 2017, in the first weeks of his presidency. Commonly called the "travel ban," this order suspended travel to the United States from a number of countries with a majority Muslim population. The order immediately was challenged in the courts as unconstitutional. The Trump administration was compelled to replace Executive Order 13769 with a revised version that it hoped would stand up to court challenges, Executive Order 13780, signed in March, 2017.
