The Federalist Papers is a collection of 85 articles written under the pseudonym of "Publius" by James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay in order to promote the ratification of the United States Constitution. The three main ideas promoted in these articles were:

  • The institution of a Federalist government, which centralized certain administrative functions of the country. Local Administrative matters would be overseen by the State Governments.
  • The system of checks and balances between the 3 powers of the Federal Government of the United States, which limited the amount of power each of these 3 institutions had over the other.
  • The confirmation fo the Electoral College, which designated a number of delegates from each of the states that were in charge of organizing elections within their jurisdictions and granting their votes towards a candidate that run for United States presidency.
