The correct answer is "A".

The Wilmot Proviso in 1846 was an unsuccessful attempt to ban slavery in the territories acquired from Mexico after the events of the Mexican-American War. It was proposed by Congressman David Wilmot to the House of Representatives. It would eventually pass the House of Representatives but fail to pass the Senate.

The disagreements over this proviso were one of the events that led to the American Civil War.

Which of these is LEAST associated with the 1920s? A) flappers B) football C) jazz D) speakeasies
emmasim [6.3K]
Jazz had its biggest moment in the 1920's so that's out. Speakeasies were very famous because cops were always taking these liquor stores down. And of course, flappers were famous at liquor stores and jazz so i believe football is out ;)

In your own words, describe how the language situation in Quebec affected school children and their parents.
Finger [1]

To live in Quebec is to become accustomed to daily reminders that French in the Canadian province is the most regulated language in the world. Try, as I did recently, to shop at Anthropologie online and you’ll come up empty-handed.

How did the plebeians win their place in the Roman government
jek_recluse [69]

Answer:

Eventually the plebeians were allowed to elect their own government officials. They elected "tribunes" who represented the plebeians and fought for their rights. They had the power to veto new laws from the Roman senate. As time went on, there became few legal differences between the plebeians and the patricians.
